Use this random number generator to pick a number between two values, or several at once, with or without repeats. You can also paste a list of names, one per line, and draw a winner.
The key idea
A fair drawing is not one that is fast: it is one nobody can predict
We use your browser's cryptographic generator and throw out the values that would skew the odds, so every number has exactly the same chance. Between 1 and 100, each number has a 1% chance on every draw. It all happens on your device: we do not store names or results.
How it is calculated
We use your browser's cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues), which produces unpredictable numbers with the same probability for every value in the range.
With “No repeats” each number or name can only come up once, like drawing from a hat. It all happens on your device: we do not store the names or the results.
Worked example
Pick a number from 1 to 100: leave the defaults and you get one whole number in that range, each with a 1% chance. For a giveaway with 3 winners among 250 numbered entries: minimum 1, maximum 250, how many 3, with “No repeats” checked.

Frequently asked questions
Is it a fair drawing?
Yes: every value has the same probability. If it is a public giveaway, record your screen while you run it so everyone can see it was fair.
Can I pick several numbers with no repeats?
Yes: check “No repeats” and each number can only come up once, like drawing from a hat. You can ask for up to 1,000 numbers at a time, as long as they fit in the range.
How do I draw a winner from a list of names?
Paste the list in the names box, one per line, and choose how many winners you want. If there are several, we give them to you in order, which helps to separate winners from alternates.
Can I use it for a Secret Santa?
Not directly: you can shuffle the list, but we do not stop someone from drawing their own name. For a gift exchange, a dedicated tool works better.
Do you store the names or the results?
No. The drawing runs in your browser, and we do not send or store the list or the result.
Can I use negative numbers?
Yes: the minimum and the maximum can be negative, as long as the maximum is greater than or equal to the minimum. If you type decimals, we use the whole numbers that fall inside the range.
