Financial Calculators
Run the numbers on your money before you sign
These financial calculators do the money math people search for most: a mortgage payment with taxes and insurance, how much house you can afford, a car loan, paying off a credit card and how your 401(k) and savings grow.
See all 16 calculatorsThe key idea
An interest rate is not a percentage: it is dollars every month
A $5,000 credit card balance at 22% APR costs $91.67 of interest in the first month alone. Paying $150 a month takes 52 months and $2,798.05 of interest; $250 a month takes 26 months and $1,285.72. Seeing the dollars, not just the rate, changes the decision.

CalculateHow we work
How we build calculators, in three principles
Diagnosis
Source first
Every formula comes from the law, the agency or the original study.
If a calculation depends on a rule (federal tax brackets, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Social Security), we start from the official text from the IRS, the Department of Labor or the SSA and link it on the page. If it depends on a study, we cite the study.
No figures copied from another calculator.
Method
Checked by hand
Every calculator is tested against cases worked out by hand.
The example on each page is one of those cases and matches the tool to the cent. We also test the edge cases: zeros, negatives, legal caps and odd dates.
When a rule changes, we review it and log the change on our corrections page.

The result comes with the formula, the example and the common questions.
Everything runs in your browser, instantly and with no sign-up. You can share a calculation with a link, save it to your history or download it to Excel.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How is a mortgage payment calculated?
With the amortization formula on the loan amount, the monthly rate and the number of payments, plus property tax, insurance and PMI if you have them. A $320,000 loan at 6.5% for 30 years is $2,022.62 a month of principal and interest.
How much house can I afford?
It depends on your income, your other debts and the debt-to-income limit you use. The house affordability calculator finds the price whose full payment fits that limit.
How does compound interest work?
You earn interest on your interest: each period, the return is added to the balance and the next return is figured on the larger amount. Over long periods, growth speeds up.
How much can I put in my 401(k) in 2026?
$24,500, plus an $8,000 catch-up from age 50, or $11,250 at ages 60 to 63, according to the IRS.
Are the results exact?
They are estimates with the standard formulas, checked against worked examples. Lenders round and charge fees in their own way, so compare with your Loan Estimate or loan offer.
Is my data saved?
No. The calculations run in your browser; if you save one to your history, it stays on your device.
